When you board Sophia, the emphasis is geared to giving you the charter you want. If you've never sailed before, or if you would like to charter a yacht in waters that you may not be familiar with, relax, you can have the charter you want, exactly as you wish. Your skipper brings years of sailing experience and will work to provide you with a charter that is personalized to meet your expectations.

We offer a range of private charters to provide the experience you are looking for. We are happy to assist in planning sailing trips for you, your family and friends, be it 2 hours on the water or a week-long offshore charter. Come sail with us on a holiday you’ll remember forever.

2 Hour Sails

2 hours sails, the most popular of which are at sunset, are available on a same-day basis only. We do not accept reservations for these outings. Because of the extremely low cost (as little as $50/per person) we offer no frills, however guests are encouraged to bring their own snacks, beverages etc. These sailings are for a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 6.

SAILING WITH SOPHIA CHARTER DESTINATIONS

1/2 Day Sails

Half day sails (4 hours) can begin as early as 10am, your pick your times. Kick back and enjoy a spectacular summer afternoon with your favorite people, warm sun, gentle breezes and complimentary wine and cheeses for you and your party (up to six people). You can take the helm, pull the lines or just sit back and let us do all the work. If you've never sailed before this is an excellent way to get an idea of how you like it, without spending a fortune.

Full Day Sails

Full day sails (8 hours) are a great way to spend a day. We cast off at the hour of your choosing and enjoy what nature provides (hopefully fair winds and warm sun) for you and your party of up to six. If you are new to sailing you can get as much instruction as you want from Capt. George. We provide a world class sailing yacht along with wine and cheese and house beer and munchies. Plan to pack for a lunch/dinner for yourself - we can drop the hook and do a cookout on the stern grill. Have a relaxing swim, get some sun on deck, fall asleep in the hammock - the day is yours to spend as you like. We'll be back at our mooring in time to toast the sundown.

Our policy is that all guests who have chartered Sophia receive a 10% discount on future bookings with Sophia.

We supply whatever the occasion requires, from simple snacks and beverages to a small catered affair on board. We will tailor the experience to fit your wishes. Please note we cannot accomodate more than 6 guests. A charter aboard Sophia is the perfect way to:

2 and 3 Day Weekends

For those who have never sailed or who have limited sailing experience, a weekend aboard Sophia can be an invaluable learning experience. Couples thinking of doing a 7-day bareboat but aren't sure if it's the vacation for them can get their feet wet for a weekend and see - without a major commitment of time and money. It's also an excellent experience for people with a smaller sailboat to see what the differences are in a larger boat if they are thinking of moving up. No matter what your reasons, a long weekend on the water enjoying the yachting lifestyle is an unbeatable stress-buster.

If you fall in love with any of the spots you visit along the way it's your call if you just want to hang out there, as always, we aim for total flexibility - in many cases you can adjust your cruise on the fly. The only real plan the skipper likes to stick to is the one that makes you happy (and of course safe).

Boat & Breakfast

The sailing yacht Sophia makes a fantastic base for a 2, 3 or 4-day mini-vacation, whether in Block Island in the summer or Palm Beach in the winter. As a unique nautical bed-and-breakfast the ship affords you a fresh perspective on these great destinations. In addition to the normal B&B experience, a charter lets you see it from the water - you can sail and sight-see to your hearts content, all from the decks of your own private yacht. We provide you with a good start to your day with breakfast aboard, then you're off to spend the day as you like - Capt. George will be on call with the dingy to take you to and from your mooring.

You and your party choose, with the guidance of the captain, the day's activities and the itinerary, on a day-to-day basis.
